I step out of my home and breath in the pine trees that surround our small cottage. Honeysuckle and Wildflowers also fill my eyes and nose with beauty. My three dogs wag their tails in delight and stick their nose to the ground when they run across the scent of the three deer that crossed the dirt road just minutes before we found that spot.

This is where peace is found. In the quiet moments of sheer joy, in the warmth of the sunshine, in the aloneness, and yet, I am not alone. Nor am I lonely. I revel in being by myself on this dirt path just as I revel in the hush of my classroom just after my 8th period class lets out.

The birds sing to me, creating multiple songs of joy that fill the air with perfect harmony.

I am delighted that spring is come. It fills my soul with sunshine, and reminds me of a single Bible verse, perhaps my favorite.

“Be still and know that I am God.”
